The Author is invited to meet the five-year-old celebrity author,
singer, songwriter, tap dancer, UN goodwill ambassador, fund-raiser
and Olympic-hopeful, Britney Woggle. Her Booker Prize nominated
first novel "Woggle World" has been the biggest sensation since the
twelve-year-old giant of English fiction Martin Adenoid had his own
best-selling autobiography turned into a BBC mini-series.
Over malted milk and biscuits Britney told the Author she thought
he was "wonderful for his age!"
I have my doubts about Britney. She looks like she could fold up into a suitcase. Could her mother be the sister of ventriloquist Bernie Bloater? Quite how a puppeteered dummy can take part in the Olympics without a lot of strings being pulled I don't know. More to the point, did the Author ghost write Britney's novel "Woggle World"? Martin Adenoid was recently snapped by the paps going through the Author's dustbin. Would the Author like to comment?
ReplyDeleteBritney's first novel was closely 'supervised' by her editor Mavis Galore who also 'guided' Martin Adenoid's hugely successful autobiography to the top of WH Smith's best sellers list by completely rewriting it for him. Twice. When Adenoid was asked about rummaging through the Author's dustbin he said he'd lost his tortoise.
ReplyDeleteModern editors are good at reading lunch menus, but not books. Mavis Galore appears to be a throwback to the vanished days of traditional publishing. How old is she? Does the Author know her socially?
ReplyDeleteThe Author has indeed encountered mighty Mavis Galore - see post for Friday 8th April.
